The Leftovers is a series where the artist takes the gunk and scrap remaining from other oil paintings, and uses it as the base of the work. Half painting half sculpture, The Leftovers takes what remains and turns it into what it's meant to be.
 
The painting is of a figure rich in cool tones, a portrait rendered in thick paint against a near-black ground. Surrealist in mood, expressionist in execution, the work is undercut by something unresolved.
